This project was about creating an edition focused on the addiction to collecting something (not necessarily an addiction, but rather the accumulation of a certain object). We had to find the content ourselves based on our own collection, and we also had to create a series of photographs to add to the edition.
I chose to work with my mother’s postcard collection, as she likes to collect them over the years. For the content of my edition, I chose to discuss a scientific article by a psychologist that addresses the influence a postcard can have on our perception of a specific country or city. She explains that people are influenced by these beautiful landscapes, which make us believe that these places are as beautiful in real life as they appear on a postcard.
